Problem with these "proximity" indicators is that some guys start to depend on them as power present sensors.
In an industrial shop where I worked they bought us all pocket screwdrivers that were suppose to indicate the presence of power. Guys were no longer carrying their meters! Sorry I think they are unsafe. Get a meter and learn how to use it. IMHO

i had one of the indicators from Viessmann, I really didn't think it worked very well.

Maybe mine was defective, it was really tough to get any response from it.

(sorry to drag this thread further off topic)...

I think the non-contact detectors are great to indicate the presence of power but not the absence. If mine says there's juice I believe it. If it says no juice, I pull the meter or neon tester out...
