One of my mothers last questions

From the web site http://www.cremate-me.net/env.php

It will take about 20 cubic metres of gas to reduce you to a few pounds of ash. Isn't this a waste of fuel? Doesn't it add to the carbon dioxide which is being produced as your body burns? Of course new technology helps. Karrakatta Cemetery in Austrailia has reduced gas consumption to 10 cubic metres per cremation.
And cremation heat can be used ... The heat from the furnaces of the two crematoria in Helsingborg and Boras in Sweden is being piped directly to district energy companies. One local energy company heats 60,000 homes and estimates the crematoria have supplied about 10 percent of its needs. The policy has vehement opposition. Hey what's the fuss? Personally I'd like to be recycled.

One of my mothers final questions.

My mother who was cremated last week had asked one of my brothers about how much fuel would be used for her cremation. So as a final gift to my mother who had 74 great years of activism and care for the local environment. I would like to know a rough idea of how to calculate the amount of BTUs were needed to create her ashes.

I miss her very much and can truly say that in the last two months of her life we got over all of our conflicts and had only love and joy for each other especially so in her final hours.
I want to thank Dan Holohan for creating this site and allowing such a wide varieties of discussions.
    Thank You all.
A grieving son Joseph M Annon
