This is part of how I spent vacation, other than dodging rain drops. This is the third one this season.
I am winning little battles, but feel like I am still loosing the war.

It's what's for dinner--the other white meat.
Ever notice how freaked out they get when you start moving them in the cage? They're not moving, but they're going somewhere. And what you're calling vacation, he's calling a bad day.0 -
Darn tree pigs
Between August and November last year, I relocated 30 of the little varmints. We're a very urban residential neighborhood that has the good fortune of sharing our space with a college campus. At least the coed-fed tree pigs are easy to trap.
BTW, for the environmentally-friendly in the group, they were all relocated 5 miles away in an area rich with water, food and shelter sources (oak trees)--and red tailed hawks!0 -
Delicious!!!
Looks like you got some good eating there. Remember, slow roasting is the key!

Bushy tailed rats are one thing!
But the critter that gave me fits last year wore a mast. Seems he liked my crawlspace so much he decided to move in. Kindly neighbor happened to have access to a trap so I bated a crossbar hotel and sure enough I got a guest the first night. Kindly neighbor also warned me not to handle the cage when occupied, recommending I slide a long broomstick through and use the ends as handles. Had the little bugger done to my hand what he did to that handle they'd be calling my stubby now. BTW: He was a she. After the capture I did a recon on my crawlspace. No damage, but 4 blind little pups.

Call my Dad
He has been releasing them for years without incident, the trick is to cover the trap with an old heavy coat or heavy blanket and as long as the striped creature can not see he will remain calm. Once transported open one end stand at other end pull back cover and slowly back off until he has made his way clear. If you like to live dangerously reach in grab by the tail to pick his feet off the ground that to works if your quick enough0 -
Be careful with squirrels...
They will bite you if they think you are nuts!
