Is there a deterioration rate for propylene glycol in a chill water system? If so what rate(s) is there a guide for the amount of glycol required or recommended for a given system size & pipe sizes?

    used in hot or chilled systems should be checked yearly, in my opinion. Basic ph and freeze protection can easily be done on site.

    Most all of the glycol manufactures will test a sample you mail them for a more in depth analysis.

    Really in a clean sealed system with no additional fluid being added glycols can last 10, 15, 20 years or more.

    Contact www.Dow.com for a nice, still free I believe, engineering guide on their PG and EG products.

    System volume can be calculated if you know all the pipe sizes, fittings, emitters, lengths, etc.
