Update the equipment or replace it.

A good mechanical contractor who undertsands combustion is your best bet.

The reduced maintenance and fuel comsumption alone will pay for the upgrades in no time. Not to mention having a burner that more techs are familiar with.

    would appreciate any advice on switching fuels for 90hp Scotch Marine steel boiler In the Bronx N.Y.

    Would like to switch from #4 to #2 oil to reduce maintenance costs and maybe fuel mixture tampering. this boiler is grandfathered from efficiency testing, oldtimer Tech advised me not to switch fuels as this would bring the boiler under todays testing laws and because of long run of flue pipe 50'approx to stack it would not pass inspection without coslly draft controls.

    Anyone have any thoughts on this matter?
