Sounds like Ct Rt84. Used to see one there a lot when I trqvelled from Ma. I was a local officer for 22 years and the no speedo I didn't know only helps make him more upset. He should have been nicer but then again if it was Ct they were unfortunately in it for the money.

    Funny, but expensive Xmas story

now before y'all start X is an ancient abbreviation for Christ, look it up, it was never meant as anything else

    @1987 On call for Xmas

Xmas morning I get a call 20 miles from home, so I go and knowing that soon all will be waiting for me to open presents, so, naturally I high tail it back.

As my speedometer was broken {actually out of the dash for repairs by the dealer and we couldn't have a truck down} I am cruising with traffic, and I am last in line.

I start to notice a reflection in my rear view mirror, but all I can see out the back doors is a black car right on my butt that doesn't appear to be a trooper---duh

remember the Buick Grand Nationals with the Turbo V6 they used to use??? yep, that was what was on my butt, and it weren't no gear head behind the wheel, it twas a trooper who was none too happy for 3 reasons

    1. he had to work on Christmas morning

    2. I was not heeding his signal

    3. this was over the course of @ 3-4 miles???

I tried to explain that he was too close for me to see the lights in his grill, but, I realized after about 2-3 seconds I had better shut up, when I showed him my lack of speedometer he wanted to know if I wanted a ticket for faulty equipment to match my other Christmas present.

I said no, one present of this magnitude for Christmas was more than I could ask for.

Merry Christmas Happy Hanukah Happy Holidays

    hmmmmm

    you had to be there

this guy was not happy, but, he didn't arrest me and haul the truck away so I counted and accepted my losses.

An nice icebreaker like that may have worked if I applied it just before he got to the window

all I was thinking as he was pulling me over was " geeez, was that the guy that's been on my butt all this time??? grrrrrrreeeeat, just wonnnddderrrful"

Must have been Officer Grinch. I know well that sinking feeling when you realize you've been caught.

no speedo = not guilty. as you could not be aware you were speeding
    hope you didn't plead guilty

good try! Ignorance has never been an excuse, nor will it ever be. Maybe try "everyone else was speeding too!!!" responsewould be "I can only stop one of you at a time".

    not so ancient

Christ is spelled with an X in Greek.
Maybe Cosmo or Ted G. can tell us more about the Greek alpha-bet.

I would have plead not guilty, and gone to court you would have gotten off.

    Merry Xmas !!
