I've used a few different replacement trap parts, but the Turnstall ones are top notch as far as construction, fit, and ease of installation. And their knowledge of some of the strange ones I've ran into still is the best! delivery is always on time.

Not familiar with the Armstrong kits
so I can't say whether or not they're good. But I've used both Tunstall and Barnes & Jones repair kits, also some Hoffman kits. All have worked well.

The elusive gold nugget
You're already doing one thing right... you're taking care of your traps. That's already enough to make your system run at top performance.
You're also doing something else right, you didn't propose the brand of traps that I think break down the fastest.
I'm assuming we're talking about the silver nugget wafer style insert that Armstrong proposes; I once ordered a few, waited for them with all the excitement a kid has for a promised toy, and when the parcel came, it contained Barnes and Jones inserts. Nothing wrong with Barnes and Jones of course, but I am just not sure what Armstrong either manufactures or doesn't manufacture in radiator thermostatic traps. They're the bucket trap people.
Nothing wrong at all with Tunstall either, even if I live miles and miles away from the factory.
One last option
Illinois traps (the 1G?) are fine traps, instead of the capsules, have you looked for direct OEM replacement parts? Or even entire new traps of a different brand.
One last favor
Could you report back and give a summary list of how and how many failed traps you found in your system? Insatiable curiosity.
