    Spam Bots are a form, for want of a term, a viral program which bypasses web site security to post either unwanted advertisement postings or which can scour the site for e-mail addresses to be used for their nefarious means.

    Your e-mail address for example can be co-opted as a proxy from which thousands of spam e-mail addresses can be sent (and for which you get the blame, welcome to Nigeria.)

    It's a software program

    that places unwanted ads, often nasty ads, on the site. It gets past the security and whatever we try do to stop them ($$$), they just get smarter and bypass the fixes.

    The problem should go away when we rebuild the site in the coming months.
