pressuretrol differential settings

Options
From time to time I take the p-trol off and blow through. Should there be water in there or is this a clog? I can't tell whether it is water in the loop protecting the p-trol from steam or a clog. I ordered a vaportat for 169.00 that was discussed out here. Have not heard from the manufactrer or recieved the tracking number. DTI corp. could not complete the transaction on line so I had to call and got a company in florida. Has anyone else odered one from this post? ed

    pressuretrol differential settings

I just finish reading " You Got Steam" and I immediately went to check my pressuretrol. I cranked it down from 2psi to .5 on the cut in, but when I opened it up to check the cut out setting there is no reference mark. Am I suppose to see the number 1 in front of me or on the side to know that is where it is suppose to be? Also my pressure guage is reading 2.5 when the boiler is at it's peak heating. Is this normal?

I think the number is supposed to be faceing you,and the gauge reads 2.5 before or after you made the pressure adjustment? Could be that the pigtail to the control is partially or fully plugged but I don't really ever trust gauge readings unless it's a new gauge. And even then---?

Ok, the number on the dial is facing me as I stand in front of it, and the guage was reading 0 before I made the adjustment.
  • Then

it is set correctly. As you've discovered, this type of Pressuretrol isn't that accurate.
