Hiring Good Employees

in THE MAIN WALL
In response to a previous post, I Guess hiring goes both ways! I am new to the hydronic field but I am learning all I can by visiting the wall and ordering books. Considering a career change,trying to break in part time for now, but no takers! I can plumb a house to pass inspection, but have no experience in hvac. Filled a few apps but nothing happening, never even mentioned pay. I realize I may need to start as a laborer to prove myself. I am running out of ideas. located in Chgo S/W burbs. Can any one help? Ideas??

    Pat, if you applied with my company I would be highly interested. If I were you I would keep going on your path. Keep looking for someone to hire you. I am sure with your good attitude that you will find the right employer.

    Thanks for the kind words, Josh. I'm guessing my biggest obstacle is being available part time, which I can kind of understand. I'll just keep at it, also reading up on all that I can. thanks again.

    Pat, I think the part time is hurting you. In this biz part time help is impossible to schedule. Keep at er though...

    Part Time

    Look to a small shop or guy on his own for part time work . They are always looking for a good worker when they need help . Most of these guy have a list of names they call on .Most hire from from the local pool of workers looking for cash work . If you want to work , its there for you. You will start out as a go for, clean up , pipe cutter and pipe doper guy , but if it's in you , there is a lot to pick up and learn . We all started out working on some ones side job .
