Piping correct ?
This is my main going towards my first radiator. I'm concerned with the dip on the right side of the picture...is that correct ? Is it some kind of water lock ? Can this cause water hammer ?? thanks Joe0 -
I have the same...problem ?

This is one-pipe steam? With the steam supply arriving at the left side?
If so, it looks to me like someone did some monkey business with the pitch of the steam supply--perhaps because someone wanted more headroom in the basement?0 -
Yup
you need to "drip" that low point into the wet return. Bet it bangs there.....

yup...drip low point
that is beginning of the run on that main. It travels to the left 20 feet then to my wet return. Could it be repaired in that corner with some 45's instead of 90"s ??
Haven't had much banging since I changed all my radiator vents to gortons and I got my pressure at a half a pound though it aint cold yet. still much work to do still before I'm saving money.
Excuse me but are you Dan Halohan ? thanks joe0 -
Nope
Dan posts with his own name. I don't; years ago when I first joined the Wall there were a bunch of guys named Frank already here. So I came up with the nickname and it stuck.

how to correct piping ?
Hi handy Homeowner on a budget here. could you tell me how to correct this piping. Steam is coming from the right side of the pic, it branches to the first radiator on this main then continues to the left to feed another rad and riser.0 -
And that's a fitting name Frank!
But no one will ever be the same as Phrank from Philly. What the heck ever happened to him?
