Make up water fill location

I need help with a disagreement that I am having with an individual regarding the location of the RBBA and fast fill/ reducing valve make up water for a hydronic system. The oil boiler is located in an out building with a primary loop, exp tank spirovent and pump with 1" supply and return piping entering the crawl space of the house and then rising to the secondary piping wall. The system is set up to power purge zones using a garden hose. I have cut in the make up water tee on the supply riser and have placed an air eliminator at the top of this riser to evacuate entrained air. The individual insists that the make up water fitting has to be as close to the spirovent/exp tank as possible. Opinions would be appreciated. T.R.

if room allows
pipe it into a tee between the exp tank and your spirovent. i'd get rid of the extra eliminator
They call me "Hot Pipe"0 -
He's right
you want to have your feeder at the point of no presure change at the expantion tank.....Sorry...David

First
define your piping better. Is there a primary loop in the basement of the home?
If the boiler(s) feed into this loop, and the heat circuits feed from this loop, then the PONPC would be best in that loop, with the feed valve located at that point. Often right into the bottom port of the air eliminator.
Then pipe and pump all boilers and zones away from that primary loop. The remote boiler does not need to have the pump located at the boiler location. Locate it at that basement primary loop to keep all the circs in one easy to repair location. The concept is that all pumps flow away from that PONPC, and locate the fill there.
It's fine to have power purge loications to aid in start up and cleaning of the system. Webstone makes an excellent valve for that purpose.
