burping condensate line

I have a high efficiency condensing furnace on the second floor of my home. The condensate line makes a bunch of turns and has some horizontal runs as it finds its way to the basement laundry sink. When it is running the line makes a burping noise every 5 seconds or so. Any idea what causes this. Could one of the horizontals be pitched backwards, causing an air lock?

Sounds like there is no trap in the line.

Sounds like...
it could be backing up to a point, then enough head develops to cause it to start running then it siphons, causing the burping sound, then starts all over again. You need a seperate vent or a larger line to avoid the siphon effect.
It's probably not hurting anything though...
URRRrrp...Scuse me..:-)

Mark,
My nephew, who is two, only gets organic food and 100% fruit juice. It was none other than myself who introduced him to cheezy poofs with canned cheese on them. I also taught him "MMMMM Beer", which he now says randomly whenever he gets a drink (usually in public!). My sister wants to kill me....0
