I installed one .. here are the results (copied from another thread!) Keep in mind, my basement flooded and I had the door opened for a couple of days before realizing I didn't drop the theromstat. (I know stupid me) But .. at 4.99 a gallon and with my new windows I'll pay for the boiler in a couple of years .. (1700 a year savings)

In 2005 I burned 1264 gallons. Then new windows in 2006.. dropped to 1142. Then the boiler in 2007 dropped to 920. Also, my old boiler heated the water with a coil and I had no hot water tank .. so now the boiler is not running all the time heating water.

This is about a 20 % savings .. I'm hoping for more this year .. We'll see ...

Are the stated savings of 40% with the Energy Kinetics System 2000 real or hype? Are there a less expensive oil burners that acheives the same results?

Depends

on what you have now,I've done them where the savings were greater than 40%,others in the high 20%'s.There are a few triple pass boilers with ODR that will do pretty close but they're in almost the same ballpark pricewise.Cheap and good are mutually exclusive
