I finally got to visit the tall ships festival this year. The "Pride of Baltimore" is owned by the city I see. Well, tell the folks at home thanks for sending that big boy down the St.Lawrence to visit us in Chicago. I'm sure it's a common sight for all you eastern seaboarders but a rare one around here to see that many large sailing rigs in one spot. Picture 742 is not your boat but check out the guy way up in the rigging.

    Glad you enjoyed it

the Maritime Museum maintains some other ships too, including the Constellation and the Taney coast guard ship that Noel served on. These don't normally leave the Inner Harbor so you'd have to come to Baltimore to see them. If you do, be sure to get in touch!

Is that Lady Tombig in pic #716?

I guess you could kinda' say that...it's my daughter. That'd be the day me dating a 25 year old. I wish we had more time. We were racing around to see all the ships. You can tell by the pics it was dusk. I met her after work.

I'm a history buff and, being from the midwest, I envy you guys out east. I've never been west of Ohio except Florida (and that don't count) and the oldest basement I've been in was 1850's. Old buildings, old ships, old people,.....I'm there! If not in body, in mind and spirit.

All the other ships were private owned and I was impressed that your city put their best foot forward and funded the recreation of that tall ship. To heck with Randy Newman, he didn't know what he was talking about.
