Copper to PEX Tubing

Is running Pex for the end of the return to the boiler better than copper. I have seen in many newer constructions that the connection to the maniforld is pex tubing. Many heating guys here in Staten Island NY say this is the prefferred way to pipe.
I appreciate any opinions.
