OT - Auto-start exhaust fan for gas range?

I hope it's not far off-topic, because it DOES deal with natural gas, controls, ignition, ventilation, air-quality... and wives, a common Wallies topic. ;-)

Please, is there a safe, reliable way to automatically start an exhaust fan for a kitchen range (gas), when a burner is lit? (Some folks in our house have trouble remembering.)

Something based on the piezo-electric ignition?
IR sensor(s) aimed at burners? ($?!)

I am trying to take to heart the discussions of indoor humidity, and winter will come again.

    some over...

    the range microwaves have a fan that will strat if the heat is sensed high enough. Mt fridgedare gallery model is one such model.
