Cleaning PEX for potable water

If I were you, I would by new tubing. I don't know first hand of any cleaning methods. However, if there are some, I think you are risking a possible health hazard in reusing tubing that was used for radiant heat for potable water. I can't see how you could be sure that the tubing was totally clean and safe to use for potable water.

    I have some PEX that has been used in a radiant system for about 3 years. It has a black brown film on the inside. Does anyone know of a process to clean the pex so it could be used for potable water??

    code prohibits this too....new tubing is cheap compared to a trip to the hospital.....kpc

    NY code says you may reuse pipe ,BUT on potable water that pipe would have had to be potable to begin with SO it's NOT legal here [pex is cheap anyway buy new , jeez]

    you would be starting out from the wrong foundation on that one.
