Galvanized to Copper

I'm updating the plumbing in my slab-on-grade home. My inquiries have been met with a wide variety of opinions about how to make the transitions from galvanized to copper pipe. I hear little positive about dielectric unions and some question as to whether there is really any real issue at all. What's the best solution? If you had a connection direction from galvanized to copper in the wall, would you cut the wall open and change it?
Thanks

The galvanized to copper connection
will tell you exactly when it is time to open the wall. Just listen for the sound...0 -
You know what they say about democracy: "It's the worst system in the world, except for all the others"? Well, dielectric unions are just like that.
If you do it just right, teflon tape makes a dielectric separator. But you'll never know if it has a break in it. Water won't leak out, but electrons might still pass from the copper to the steel pipe.0 -
