I have a burnham steam boiler & want to convert it for use with hydronic heating.
Currently all of the steam pipes are removed.
How should I close the system? Do I need an expansion tank?

converting steam boiler
Get a boiler manual if you don't have one. Most steam boilers can be easily converted to hot water. The manual will show you how to pipe it for hot water, and yes you will need an expansion tank if you convert to a closed hydronic system.
