We installed three heat managers last year and returned 2 of them. We are now using the Tekmar 256 outdoor reset control. I like the idea of the heat manager, but so far we are very happy with the tekmar

Beckett Oil Burner Upgrade Quesitons
Hi All,
I am a homeowner, and not a HVAC pro, so any help you can give me is GREATLY appreciated.
I have Burnham forced hot water oil furnace, with a Beckett RWB burner, that I am thinking about upgrading. The furnace tests out at about 80% efficiency.
I was on the Beckett company webiste and they have a "Heat Manager" that is supposed to be a smart control for the on/off temps of the furnace. The guarantee at least 10% reduction in fuel use. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have also read that there are some controllers that use an outside thermometer to help guage when to change the on/off temps. Does anyone have any experience with these controllers?
I was also considering putting on an outside air intake for the burner. The type that I saw a few years ago fits on the intake side of the burner blower like a collar, or muff, and has ductwork to the outside. Will this make the burner any quieter? This is in a finnished basement and I am trying to cut down on drafts and noise...
If anyone has any other suggestions for reducing my bills please let me know.
Thanks,
Tim in MA, another 2 inches of snow today...

Outside Air
An outside air boot can reduce some noise but is a must as you finish off and tighten the basement. All too often people finish basements and the lack of air infiltration causes the boiler to soot up. This is not a DIY project as the adjustments change and you need instruments to adjust the burner properly. I have no experience with the Heatmanager. Reducing drafts and proper windows and insulation are things to do first IMO.

Ryan,
If I may ask...... What was the reason why you returned the Heat Managers ?There was an error rendering this rich post.
