Where did air come from?
New install-conversion from gravity HW to mod-con with circs. Dec 11th-filled and bled rads. Has Taco vortech in line. Dec 18th found highest rad with one end cold and bled air. This morning found highest 2 rads with cold ends. Question: Could the hy-vent on top of vortech be "adding" air rather than removing? Rest of system closed including the CW feed valves. Never had this with the gravity-added water every 4-5 years maybe to it and it had open attic tank! Static pressure enough to fill to higher than highest rad, but could system circ cause air to suck into at Vortech?0 -
Yes...
...conditions can certainly develop where the system pump creates a negative pressure whereby oxygen is resorbed through such things as rubber seals (flange gaskets) and air vents.
But not likely.
