Options
Ron,

Was this thing any good? When were they made? At all efficient? Wish someone would make a small one today.

How 'bout a picture?

    Small Combination Burner

Anyone have one of these or data on one?

Looking for a small (100,000 BTU) SunRay Combination Gas/Oil burner.

    Thanks, as always.

  • Have new GC210

in our museum. Wouldn't recommend installing it. Most Sun Ray OEM parts are not available. Doubt it meets CSD-1 requirements. Don't think it's approved on anyone's piece.

  • Made from start of dual fuel craze in

late 70's until Sun Ray bit the dust. Efficiencies low 80s on oil. Near 80% on gas, unless you tuned for just one fuel. Direct spark ignition both fuels. Tended to resonate on gas. UVM-2 Fireye Control.

Still have a 385 (burning gas only) operating since 1980. Don't think the boiler guys want the complications, & potential liabilities, on their small pieces. Saw a few folks get in over their heads on small dual fuel. Some very unhappy homeowners who were sold a bill of goods by installers who couldn't, or wouldn't, service what they put in. Commercial service rates & high parts prices don't help. UVM-2 dies. New MC-120 Complete - $1,400.00 + labor. Tends to dampen dual fuel enthusiasm real quick.

Then again, I dread ever having to replace what controls the only 2 mod/cons we've installed. Expect to hear the cell phone serenade. "No one makes that anymore. We don't carry obsolete equipment. Can't help it's only 12 months & 1 day old. Have you tried Radio Shack?"
