Some like Chevys some like Fords..I like the Hoffman 1A's . A nice long lasting slow vent... The location for the main vent is is correct . Really can not over size a main vent.I would try a Gorden #2

vents and venting...
Need some new vents for my single pipe steam system. The main vent is not functioning properly (leaking steam). It is currently a vent rite 77 and serves about 60 feet of 2.5" and 40 feet of 1.5" main/return line. Should I upsize the vent or add two? Also, is this vent placed properly, it is at the end of the dry return line, right before the piping drops into a harford loop/wet return. What do you think.
Also, does anyone reccomend a specific adjustable radiator vent - How is the Hoffman 1a? Thanks!0 -

I'd vent that main
with TWO Gorton #2 vents. Personally I prefer putting main vents on the end of the main, before the dry return- this way you don't waste steam filling the dry return. But sometimes that's not practical.
