Weil-McLain Ultra vs. Burnham SCG

We've had recommendations for both to convert from an oil-fired, gravity hot water system. The Burnham is lower efficiency and requires stainless venting. The Weil-McLain has an aluminum exchanger and PVC venting. Need to vent about 20 feet. Any recommendations? Any problems with either one?

    You have quotes for two entirely different boilers. In order to compare Apples to Apples you may want to also consider a Burnham CHG or FCM Freedom Modulating and Condensing boiler. The SCG is a fine product without all of the frills of modulation and condensing applications. The overall AFUE efficiencies will vary about 10% between a conventional type boiler vs a Condensing boiler. Also bear in mind that a condensing boiler will absolutely need to be fully serviced on an annual basis in order to protect the longevity of the Cast Aluminum heat exchanger.
