    Reference for Wallace Heating and Cooling

    I am a homeowner about to have a new gas steam boiler installed. I would like to hire Ed Wallace of Wallace Heating and Cooling, Watertown, Ma. who is one of the pros listed in this forum. He appears to know his steam well, as he has repaired my current boiler and measured my steam Equivalent Direct Radiaton.

    Rather than my calling local references on the telephone,Wallace suggested that I post a message in this forum to seek feedback from homeowners and professionals regarding his knowledge and reliability.

    It is the nightmare of every homeowner that a contractor will install a boiler, get paid and be very difficult to call back if a problem with a boiler occurs after the job is complete. I am a trusting sort of fellow, however, "the boss" needs input.

    Your feedback is appreciated.

    Ed

    Ed installed a new Weil McLane SGO-4 in my home this summer. He is meticulous in his work and goes the extra mile to do everything with an eye for the future: valves on each side of circulators for easy replacement, outlets on the boiler for easy electric access for service, etc.

    Ed works by himself, so the job may take a bit longer than a heating crew of two or three men. He was very up front about that when we met. But the job will be done right. He's a good guy. I discovered him on this site as well.

    Dan, i have been reading posts and viewing photo by Ed for a long time know , i have read him giving good sound advise to folks like your self and found him to realy CARE about what he dose, i my opinion let him get stated so you can enjoy your warm comfort he can help supply.

    I'm a homeowner and I don't know Wallace. I've been following this forum for a while and have even bought a book about my heating system so that I could better understand the issues. This site and forum is a tremendous source of knowledge.

    In my opinion the mere fact that he pointed you to this forum shows that he is not afraid of professional scrutiny. He he had any doubt about the quality of his work, the last thing he would want was to give you the homeowner a pointer to a forum teeming with professionals who know how to do things right.

    In other words, I've never met him, but I like him already.

    There are those who need convincing...

    however none of the poster's here feel any need to convince anyone, their work speaks for itself. a young lady i knew was "into" quilting. she was an architect at it.her work point by point was expressed in the finished product. yet other ladies would think from just looking at her that she probably was mediocre at it, see some of her work...OH ! NOW! That is a Whole New Kick in their slats...

    it is interesting to stand along side some one babbling about art work when you are the artist or you Know the quadriplegic paralyzed from the neck down who painted it.

    sorry i cant help you, i only know the man by his work.

    Were this work posted on the front doors of the church could it be any more self explanatory?

    Ed Wallace


    Ed Wallace put in a new heating system in my old house last year. He was extremely professional, capable, reliable, and most patient with all the questions I had. He did a complete
    heat loss evaluation for me,installed a system that has provided excellent heat for my old house near the ocean. Not only did he install a new system, he found some duct work that was improperly installed by the previous owner (I never would have even known the problem existed), but he replaced it for me, advising me to let him know if any problem came up. When my hot water heater sprung a leak on a Sunday, he came right over (who does that???), and replaced the water heater that day. His fees have always been reasonable. He is honest, extremely dependable and knows his stuff.
    I recommend him most highly.
