wondering if anyone knows what these are ? and also how can i tell if i have an f&t trsp or if i need one. Also if it possible for a dry retrun to freeze

That's probably
a Broomell or VECO system. Can you post some pics?
A dry return should not freeze up unless it was inadvertantly filled with water.
