using ...flushing the system is a smart idea , thing is, what to do about keeping up with it over time?...some thing to be said for having one of the water feed pressure regulated systems with a LWCO...and checking the maint one a year or so..
hauling the water is worth it to me. at least i know what is in there ...

Filter or replace
I had to jump start one of my Taco 007's that had locked after a long standing period. I keep a spare and decided to replace the cartridge this time since this one had a problem everytime the system was off for a few months.
The installer did not filter the silty lake source town water as I had requested so this crap is still flowing around. I have a stainless housing and filter assembly that I thought would do a good job of making clean boiler water.
I was thinking of installing the filter via stainless braid hose across the primary loop and let the slight difference in pressure continuously push water thru it. I have several bib valves in the system to experiment with.
Or should I just dump the water next spring and purge with filtered water, treat and start anew?0 -
Sounds good.
I installed hose bibs in the panel rad zones, floor loop and primary loop so flushing with filtered house water is doable, but not till spring now that I fired up for the ice age. Maybe after flushing I can get a water test and adjust if necessary.
