you have to remember the fire inspectors in ma have the final say,its always best to excede the state codes i use enviro tube oil line and run it inside the blue plastic emt so its double protected as for the 1/4 in tilt per ft thats been in the code for about 15 yrs its so water will not collect in the bottom of tank but get sent thru the oil pump

    how can you win?

    Hello guys,

    Had a fire marshal look at a job today (i was not there) he siad the oil tank has to be pitched 1/4 inch per foot, Thats a 1 1/4 drop,over 5 feet,that would make the flanges tilted, i use 1 1/4 X12 nips with flanges, the tank sits flat on the flanges and the leggs are strieght, if the tank MUST be pitched that way shouldn't this be done by the tank maker so the leggs will still sit right???they should work this in buy setting the tappings higher in the front.i have put 100's of tanks in and this is the first one...

    He also said that the oil line needs to be protected, the oil line is enviro-tubing. run in the cornor where the wall meets the floor.
    haven't talk to him yet....

    David....

    I feel your pain. Here in Maine they want a 1" drop, so we spec out 2 legs@ 12" and 2 legs@ 11". Looks terrible, and is really tough to plumb the risers off of the top. Ah well, the law is the law.

    Hello Ed.

    I know that its been that way , its just the angle it puts the leggs at that has me. you put the leggs at that angle add the wieght of 250 gals of oil.the brac kets are not that strong to begin with , now if they would move the bracket up a 1" and reset the gig the tank would be properly pitched and the leggs would be strieght..thank you for you imput..David
