Draining Boiler for the summer?

I had a call today from a prospective commercial client asking if I would drain their boiler system for the summer. I asked why they would want that done, and they said their former service contractor (now deceased) did that annually for the last 20 years. Anyone have a logical reason as to why someone would do this to a hot water boiler?

    sell them a new one sooner, would be my guess....

    Deoxygenated water is like black gold to me. Maybe the contractor drew it off and sold it?

    I dunno :) I do not think that is something a Dead Man would do and at this point I am probably right, rest his soul.

    Only reason to drain any water from system (reduce pressure) is to do any repair(s) or chaging the pipings... Otherwise the water stays in the system.....
