    In general,

    There is a huge demand of trade skills in NC. I am sure you will easily find work down here in either residential or industrial. However, pay may not be great unless you are hired high on the totem pole, go industrial, or start your own business.

    There are a lot of fly by night operations and I'd guess only 30% of the plumbing/HVAC field technicians really know their game. That places pressure on wages but also provides an opportunity to stand out. The number of illegals also places pressure on wages. Not trying to start a politcal discussion but they are proving to be hard, capable workers willing to work for less.
