Diesel is a cleaner grade of fuel oil. For a burner using fuel oil I would prefer diesel over kerosene. Kerosene would need to be checked it has some differences from fuel oil. Diesel is a direct drop in. A company I once worked for sent techs with diesel fuel to runouts to get them heat before an oil truck showed up.

furnace fuel
I know that forced hot water furnaces will run on either fuel oil or kerosene. Will they also run on deisel fuel without having to make any adjustments? I was just wondering in case of a emergency situation, if I could siphone fuel out of my truck and put it in my fuel oil tank. THANKS.0
