R-22 VS 410-A

In my opinion, KEEP the 7/8 & 3/8" line. What is the problem with R22? You can go aprox....100' with some provisions to assure oil back to the compressor. 3 ton, if that is what you want,...Do it. Contrary to belief, The further you go..At least with the LL you will need to down size to keep your velocity, but your application is not unusual. Long, but not unusual..

    R-22 VS 410-A

We have to fix someone elses bad work. It's a Unico system with a 75'(plus) lineset(7/8" X 3/8"), with a 25' rise. My supplier says 410-A can handle a longer lineset compared to r-22. What do you think? (To run a new lineset would add a huge cost to this job.) We were thinking of leaving the lineset, adding oil traps, and changing out the condenser, and Unico equipment to 3 ton. Thank You

    Planning on a Arcoaire

I just don't know why the last compressor failed. Can a condenser ever be slighty larger then the a-coil?

Morning! Slightly undersized Evap to cond ratio? You are working on a system that has that setup now! Unico 's Engineering Guide shows for a 1 ton(12k) cond you get 10k BTU's out of the "system" , a 3 ton (36k)cond and you get 27k out of the "system" , and for a 5 ton cond you get 51k out of the "system". the lower rating is based on the normally lower evap temp pulling out more moisture than a convential ,and, better sealed duct work with more air reaching the conditioned space .410a and the POE oil mix so well together that longer line sets are now normal without the need of oil traps in the suction line.Enjoy your day!

    175' line set

To bad your 13 seer just ended up below 10 seer.
We even try to avoid that even on refrigeration lines.
