Is this product really that efficient? Can anyone In Nassau County vouch for this savings? What do the residential boiler experts on the wall think about the product? If this isn't the "Real McCoy", then what is the best way to heat a large 3000 sq.ft. home with high ceilings,2 fireplaces,3 skylights. Hot water production for 2 bathrooms and possible in ground pool.In the past all of the "Wall professionals" have been a blessing to all of us home owners who don't have the professional experience. Thanks .......

    I just

became a dealer and have yet to do one but have averaged 35% savings with both Biasi and Buderus [without reset] replacing primarily steel dry base boilers with coil. So I have no doubt an EK will do at least that or better.

Are you a dealer , meaning you sell to other installation companies ? I was in the full day seminar a few months ago and am very impressed . I want to try one in my own home .

    No

a dealer to sell to consumers. I think they want to be able to control who installs their product, which is a great idea and other manufacturers should take note. Especially with all the new technology coming out that makes it even less of a DIY than ever. Check your email

    System 2000

I've installed several System 2000s. What I can caution you on is that it's essential to get on board with a good yearly maintenance program. The spiral flue passages in this boiler are tight and ready for a cleanout minimum once a year, twice to maintain those high efficiency claims.

not sure I agree on that

If set up right they should be clean, they will build up a tan dust at 4 and 8 o'clock in the spiral that should be checked for, some of the older ones did condensate some though.

I rec that you use an indirect water heater instead of the heat ex unless you have city water that is primo. Some city water is not primo.

    Response from W.A.R.

Many thanks to all of you who were kind enough to respond.
I notice that there is not much feed back on various unit installs. If any professional E.K.2000 installer can give some feed back it would be greatly appreciated.

Our company sells and installs system 2000,and have done several applications. We firmly believe that system 2000 is the most energy efficent boiler on the market today,We have had alot of our customers save at least 40% and some as much 50% on there oil useage,It also depends on what application you currently have,If you go on line to www.energykinetics.com they have a wonderful web site and information that hopefully help you in your decision.

If the flue way has to be brushed even once a year there's something wrong with the burner setup especially with lower sulfur fuel. You shouldn't need to get the brush out more than once every couple of years.

    info for??

If you mean to answer this - then what is the best way to heat a large 3000 sq.ft. home with high ceilings,2 fireplaces,3 skylights. Hot water production for 2 bathrooms and possible in ground pool

you need to have a pro come out and do a heat load calc, sounds like you need an EK2 at the least

there can be no other answer to that question

I'm interested in feedback on the installs as well...

I had a S2K EK1 system quoted and a Viessmann Vitorond 200/KW10 setup quoted. I'm leaning towards the Viessmann for build quality, reputation, clean emissions and solid controls.

It sounds picky, but the Energy Kinetics literature and website made me a little concerned - I got sort of a “contraption” feeling from it all.

I think I read something about the energy manager boards getting zapped -

    Any board can get zapped

Any control board can get zapped. I have replaced various controls in both heating and air conditioning applications so it isn't brand specific. As far as Viessman is concerned make sure there are companies to service it. In ten years I have seen two. I have worked for three oil companies and we inherit everyones systems. Viessman just isn't popular in this area so it takes a little time to refamiliarize when we see one. Viessman has their own burner or a Riello where System 2000 uses American burners. Each has a control that is "Brand Specific". I'm not an EK dealer but I was at their plant in June and they are adding on to the building, looks like they aren't going anywhere.

    Hope this helps,

    The

Vitorond 200 is only available with the Riello burner not the Vitoflame so anyone should be able to service it. I've serviced many EK's over 20 years and the quality is fine although not in the Viessmann league, although what is? You could replace many manager boards for the cost of one Vitotronic
