Brent is having a little fun;) there are labels on two of the components. I think Steamhead and Tim are real close. You can see the chain and pulley that used to operate a damper. It might be a "CON-MOD" it condensed some steam and modulated the fire. Who would have thunk.

a low-water cutoff, or a damper regulator?

Are there any names on it?

How does it connect to the boiler?

Is it possible that its some type of steam convector? Is that a motor down in the middle of picture #2 behind the gauge?

The fins remind me

of a heat sink.

I am going to guess that it is a form of condenser or condensing trap, but I have never seen such a thing as this. There seems to be a gauge and outlet pipe, not sure if there is an inlet also. The controller is connected to the gauge so am surmising that it has a pressure control function but also has to dissipate heat.

Anyway, just my $0.01 SWAG...

MAYBE part of a fan coil unit of some sort. pressuretrol operating control.

That looks like an actuator on top, maybe a 3 way valve.

I have no idea. Better pictures would be good.

are you able to tell if that is a temp or pressure control on

the side of that. Was there a pipe hooked to the bottom of it at one time?? Looks like that when the do hicky on the side heated up the whatcha macallit on the top may have opened:) What happened then may be with the dead men.

If memeory serves me this

is a heat dissapator designed to cause a condensing/steam reaction which created and held a vacuum. It worked off a steam pressure differential which Penn made for control purposes. They were a real stinker when they got plugged. I could be wrong as I have not seen one in about 30 years and after all I am getting old. I was looking through my old steam books for a picture nothing yet.
