painting pex??

I am painting the laundry room of my 4-plex, and there is plenty of exposed h-pex for the radiant system. As I shoot the room, can the pex be painted? Will it stick or hurt the pex?

    Several times my new constuction stub outs have been sheet rock mudded and painted before I returned with no effects to the tube. I masking tape them now :)

    won't be durable

    From working with plastics for many years (and painting some impossible to paint plastics) I would predict that without any treatment the PEX will fairly easily sluff off any paint applied. This is an educated guess because I haven't tried it, but PEX is in the family of olefins that are "greasy or waxy" by nature and they don't like paint.

    Having said that, if it is sanded lightly and cleaned, like with isopropyl alcohol, then you stand a fair chance of it sticking if it stays static. If it expands and contracts a lot then that will compound your problems. I don't think it will be durable, in the long-term if handled, flexed or bumped into.
