Radiant Project Pictures
Hi, I am a homeowner currently working on a radiant heating retro-fit. Since I found a lot of info on this site and from NRT Rob who posts here, I thought I'd post a link to some pictures of the project. The web site is www.lxdragon.com/radiant1.htm
Thanks! And thanks to Dan for letting me link to this site.

Wow...congratulations on a nice looking job. I hate to say this but it's true......a lot of guys doing this for a living could take some lessons from you. Good work !!0 -
Thanks! I let the pros do the hard stuff. I just did the plates, manifold, and ran the tubing for that one zone (so far).

pex
What kind of pex is that you used?

pex
The zone pictured, as well as the other extruded plate zone, use Mr. Pex 1/2" with an oxygen barrier for the loops and 3/4" Mr. Pex for the supply and return. The Roth panels, not yet installed, will use 3/8" pex-al-pex.

Nice!
Nice piping! All you need is some pipe insulation around the "near boiler" piping...

pipe insulation
Thanks for the tip. Should I insulate right up to the panel? Should I do the same with the pex? And is it OK to use the pipe insulation you get at Lowes or Home Depot on pex (just curious because I think it's a petroleum product)?

I use
ImcoLok or Armaflex. It comes in 6 ft lengths with either 1/2" wall or 3/4" wall. It is split down the middle with a sealing tape for ease of install. We miter the corners with a plastic miter box and serrated bread knife. We insulate all of the piping, except the CW feeder.
It's hard tto find the good stuff at the big box stores.
