Are you saying that the sink gets hot and cold water as it should, but in the shower only the cold works? Or is there cold water coming from the hot water side of the shower?

A picture of the box would be very helpful as I have no idea what you are describing.

    Four story house with hot tank in roof space boiler on floor below, hot water to tap in bathroom below tank no hot water from shower,turn shower on boiler does not activate turn tap on boiler activates!
    there is fitted a box 2.5square made by siemens that comes from a electonic box on wall under boiler. this box is detatchable by pulling it and it slips out of 4 retaining clips,it has a male flat conection that this unit turnsat some point in time. but the unit is HOT all the time when the pipe is cold. it has a leaver on the top of this box.

    Q what is this box ? Q is it supposed to get hot? does it react to the temp or the pressure of the water?

    Cold water from the hot shower side,and cold from cold side. and the hot water tank feeds both pipes?the only diff is the shower hot pipe has this Siemens box on it
    2.5 "square will get photo on Friday as this problem is 45 miles away.
