How did that insulations get there and installed by whom? I think it asking for trouble be having it there... Please remove it for safety factors...

    Is the foil backed insulation wrapped around the bottom of my steam boiler made of any special materials to winstand the extreme temperatures?

    Remember water boilers at 212*at sea level , not what you call extreme temperatures . Nothing to worry about.....

    It got there from the manufacturer. Why would I remove it if the maker of the boiler put it there?

    Is it gas or oiled fired steam boiler? Wet base ? Can you produce some pictures of it?
