Superheat

When measuring superheat you told us 8 to 12 degrees. Is that with the 5 degree tolerance included.

In temperature, what do you think the difference would be, between Evaporator and System Superheat. In a properly insulated line.

    8 to 12 is a general range and, unless you have manufacturer's literature that asks you for other values, you should use these.

    Ideally, in a perfect world, we should strive to pick up no heat in the suction line. This, of course, is not possible.

    Unfortunately, I can't answer that question, as there are a number of factors that must be considered. They include the length of the suction line, the size of the suction line, where the line is run and the type/thickness of the insulation used.

    Obviously, the lower this value the better. Increased suction line superheat raises the Heat of Compression, lowers the Cofficient of Performance and, in thurn, lowers the EER and SEER of the sytsem.
