Would it be better to use iodized water or fresh water for steam boiler?

Why iodine?
Iodine can be used to purify water (kill germs) in an emergency, but how would iodized water help a boiler. Boiling water is quite effective at killing germs.
Or do you mean ionized water (questionable health benefits) or de-ionized water [very pure, but reactive, and may want to eat (pull new ions from) your pipes].0
