He is home.

Words can't describe the feeling in the hanger waiting for the return of our troops.

When we heard the roar of the C-130 hitting the reverse thrusters, the crowd went wild. Due to the cold weather, the door to the hanger bay was kept closed until the troops were off the plane. We could hear the C-130 as it taxied up and powered down and then.................

The doors opened and it was a mad rush. Mothers carrying little ones as they ran out to find Dad. More American flags than I have ever seen. Not a dry eye in the house, mine included. To hear a child scream , "DADDY!" and see a little body run as fast as it's little legs can move is enough to drive even the hardest man to his knees. To watch a father scoop up his child and hold them like there is no tomorrow, well.....I know of nothing more powerful.

To watch a mom hug her son, a daughter or a son hug their dad........other than the birth of my children, I can think of no other spectacle that could move me the way this home coming did. Hollywood only dreams of being able to re-create this kind of emotion.

I knew a few of the others that were sent over with Darin, and I made a point of giving each of them a BIG hug, a "WELCOME HOME" and a "Thank you". So many happy faces.

I will post pics tomorrow. Tonight...Anthony and Caitlin, along with dozens of other children, sleep well knowing dad is HOME.

And just so you know, I cried like a baby when it was my turn to hug my best friend. He is like a brother to me.
