Steam Heater Feed
AG
Member Posts: 6
I am a first time home-owner with some plumbing experience and the do-it-myself attitude, until now. I have a pretty old honeywell steam boiler. I can not find a cold water feed inlet anywhere on the boiler. I was under the impression the inlet would be into the water feeder, which has none. The only thing that even resembles a cold water line (1/2 inch copper piping) is an inlet into one of the return steam pipes going back into the boiler. Would this be the fresh water feed? If so, wouldn't the fresh water combine with the return condensed water causing the eye glass to be dirty from containing returned water?

steam system
You should hire a pro. plumber to go over , check , and explain your system to you then you will probably be able to do routine maintenance yourself and determine when and if you need professional assistance. the copper line is most probably the feed line & there is probably a manual hand globe or ball valve for control. a auto feeder can be added but on res. steam systems is not totally necessary. the return line is the proper point of make-up water connection.0
