sizing a steam boiler replacement

RMA Member Posts: 55
I don't realy like replacing what's there. if I measure the rads and come up with a square footage of steam required , is this the size boiler i should carry, or is there another part to the formula?

    its a start

    Hi RMA,

The first step is the radiation tally. The boiler's net EDR steam rating should be greater than the total for the system. There are other considerations, such as removed radiation, piping that runs through un-heated areas, and anything else out of the ordinary that would require going to a larger boiler. Always look at the whole system and make your own judgements, but for the most part, the radiation total determines the boiler size.

    Best regards, Pat
