Cleaning fire box

Can you swing open the burner door?
If you can and the boiler is hot you probably won't need
a wire brush, the stuff will fall and you can suck it up with a soot vac(regular vac's not recommended)
sometimes if I can't open the front I will use a soot snake( a thin flexible attachment that fits in the soot vac hose) I kinda half hold it over the nozzle of the hose so not to have full suction so it doesn't clog everytime.
Easier to do than to explain, it works on most stuff.
Hope it helps

cleaning the fire box
Im on the list for a cleaning and burner maintence. I was wondering what you use to clean the inside of the fire box on a Burnham CI boiler. I can see some soot and rust flaking off of the ribs inside the fire box. Is this a wire brush job or is it more delicate. I would like to do the soot cleaning and have it ready for the burner tech. Do I understand that there are passages between the sections also? what is the best way to clean these? any advice is welcomed thanks T.0 -
Its a commercial I can remove the burner plate. Any thoughts about between the sections?0
