Munchkin - F00 error message

Thanks for responding Chuck.

Yes, I already shorted out the grey wires and the fault remained. I will work on the limit string next, and will take a low water cutoff and ECO with me.

I'm getting this error message on a recent installation and the Munchkin literature says there may be a short somewhere on the safety string, i.e. pressure switch or high limit; it senses this and locks out the boiler to prevent the transformer from burning out.

My question is, how do you get a short on the limit string when it only carries one leg of the transformer? Is it shorting out to ground?

    Alan,

What is easier, than posting here, is actually calling the Tech Support Line, they are (were) open until 8pm, eastern. Having said that. You can ground the transformer through the limit string, or the TT circuit. Disconnect the two light grey wires from whatever their input is, and twist them together, hit the reset, and see what happens. If the fault clears, it is a problem out side the boiler. If it does not, use the process of elimination to check the ECO (Energy Cut Out) on the front of the boiler, the water pressure switch, and the flue safty switch.

If none of those clear the fault, then remove the grey plastic cover from the circuit board. Check near the transformer, for a dammaged component. If you find one, then the board has most likley taken a power hit from somewhere, and needs to be replaced.

If the fault clears, even for just a second, then it is probally one of the limits, or whatever is feeding the TT circuit. If it will not clear at all, most likely, it has taken a power hit.

    Foo?

Indicates that you have a safety limit ECO that has opened. Determine if there is water flow thru the heater. Manually reset the unit by pushing the S4/reset button. If the lockout continues replace the switch to correct the problem. Limit switch is set to pop at 225 *f.
