A float bleeder is a automatic type that releases air not water .But once up and running I recommend shutting off.Any auto type can fail and leak...

Convector air elimination
We are a nine story condo building with a hydronic heating/cooling system. Everytime we drain down the system, air accumulates in the convectors on the top floor. We waste a lot of water bleeding these units.
Is there any tool which allows air to pass out the convector bleed valve (which is like the air valve on a car tire) without much water loss?
Any help is greatly appreciated!0 -
air vents
I would put an air vent in the main riser going to the 9th floor. When you fill and bleed the 9th floor you are trying to free the air blockage toward you from each horizontal convector. Auto vents would probably work but they are small.0
