Boiler Service

An annual boiler tune up usually involves cleaning the heat exchange surfaces (brush and vac), replacing the burner nozzle, pump strainer and oil tank filter, a complete efficiency test, and a good visual and operational test of all system components, from the oil tank to the chimney. The technician should check all safety devices, make sure the controls are set correctly, that the thermsotat heat anticipator is set correctly and should address any concerns or questions you may have about your system. All the vents should be checked for proper operation, and the system settings and the efficiency test results should be put in writing and left on site for future reference.
Last but not least, make sure he explains what you shold be doing on a regular basis to maintain the system ( low water cut-off blow down, etc.)

    Boiler Service

I am getting my boiler serviced tomorrow, but I am not sure what I need to ask the technician. Can you please let me know what the normal routine of the technician is and what they look for. My boiler is oil and one pipe steam.

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.
