Blowing down boiler

Hmm. A wet lay up is never really good for your boiler if longer than a couple weeks. The problem with trying to blow down your water column or your bottom blow is that you don't have any pressure! Sure some sludge will come as a result of gravity but not enough.
I would suggest another post on this site entitled: Dry lay-up proceedure.
Or you can email me for the extact text book version.

Low Water Cut-off Question
During the heating season, I have been blowing down the low water cut-off weekly. Should I continue doing this during the off season to prevent sludge from forming in low water cut-off?
Thanks!
