Does anyone know if they make an electric hot water boiler for residential use? If so eficient are they vs oil

    They are considered almost 100% efficient, as there's no heat going up a flue pipe. What you need to look at is cost of electricity vs. Oil.

    Argo makes one, Weil-Mclain makes one too.

    electric?

    i suppose if you have a reactor in your yard or really invest in some good solar panels, but oil is still best 90% of time

    Thermolec has several sizes, and has outdoor reset.
    If loads are small and supply temperatures are low (like radiant)
    then electric boilers are a viable alternative. No flue,maintenance,
    usually no mixing valves or expensive controls needed,carbon monoxide not
    a concern, no moving parts, so long lasting, some units are less than $700.
    You just have to ask yourself if you can deal with the monthly bill.
